A good headshot offers a glimpse into who you are, what you do and why you do it. It is a visual connection that offers people a chance to put a face to your name, and it’s incredibly important for any business or brand. There are many factors that go into a headshot portrait, from posing and lighting to angles and editing. That’s why it's important to make the investment in a professional if you want the absolute best results. Excellent images are important and you and your business deserve them!
Here are my top tips for making sure your headshot session is a success:
Consider why you are getting headshots (social media, LinkedIn profile, resume, website etc.)
Determine the setting or backdrop for your headshot. Do you want to be in studio, on location or outdoors? If you aren’t sure, I am happy to help you select the perfect location.
If you have a specific vision of what you would like for your headshot, find a photo example so we can use it as inspiration for your shoot.
Pick your outfit(s) & accessories/footwear. They should be clean, wrinkle/lint free and reflect you personality and brand.
Do you want to use any props in a few of your shots to give insight into what you do? If so, bring them with you! (Ie: scissors for a hair stylist, glasses for an optometrist, tools for a carpenter...)
Consider getting your hair and makeup professionally done (if applicable). Our styling team knows what looks great on camera and they also take the stress out of getting ready for your session.
Get lots of sleep the night before your session.
